Éigse Michael Hartnett Poetry Workshop

To celebrate the Éigse Michael Hartnett Literary and Arts festival, 12 students from Scoil Mhuire agus Íde took part in a spoken-word poetry workshop with award-winning poet Mr. Colm Keegan. Colm judges the Waterford Poetry Prize and was guest editor of Poetry Ireland Review for May 2022. He has also written a number of plays and was a co-founder of Lingo, Ireland’s first Spoken Word festival.

Over the course of a two day period, the students engaged in a private workshop with Colm, developing different poetic devices before creating their own individual poems. These creations were then performed in the Red Door Gallery and will be available on the Éigse Michael Hartnett festival at a later date.

Well done to our budding poets who composed some fantastic pieces. Faigheann cos ar siúl rud nach bhfaigheann cos ina cónaí!

Many thanks to Rachel Lenihan, Tara Hayes, Pamela Nash and Colm Keegan for offering this fantastic opportunity.
