The learning at the core of the Junior Cycle is described in 24 statements of learning. Schools will ensure that all statements of learning, along with the key skills feature in the programmes of all junior cycle students. Key skills help learners develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to face the many challenges in today’s world. They also support students in learning how to learn and to take responsibility for their own learning.
All students in Scoil Mhuire agus Íde study seven Core Subjects and a Modern Foreign Language (French or German) for the Junior Cycle.
1st Year students do a Taster Programme for their option subjects. Students will experience each of the options for a four week period at the beginning of the 1st year.
Students will then select their preferred two options to be studied for the duration of Junior Cycle.
Students are also offered the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities as part of the Junior Cycle.
